EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE Dr. Shea is a proven senior executive, consultant and researcher. Michael was the President and Co-Founder of Phoenix Strategic Advisors and Griffin Strategic Advisors, an EVP at both Grenzebach Glier & Associates and Acosta/AMG Strategic Advisors, and a senior management consultant at the consulting firms Huron and A.T. Kearney. Michael was also a Senior Project Manager at Geosyntec Consultants, the owner of TerraCon, and the Principal Geochemist at Battelle Memorial Institute.
GEOLOGIC EXPERTISE Michael has participated in geologic projects across three continents, and has conducted research using stable and radiogenic isotopic analysis, neutron activation, elemental and ionic analysis of rocks, soils and groundwater, as well as other classic geologic techniques. Michael has performed finite element computer modeling and analytical modeling of the mass transport of elements through the pore spaces of rocks. Michael has published numerous scientific papers and books.
WINE EXPERIENCE Michael started to seriously appreciate and collect wine over 20 years ago. He started his vinicultural journey in the Napa Valley and Santa Cruz Mountains, focusing on zinfandels and cabs. He subsequently added the pinots of Willamette Valley, the syrahs of Ojai Valley and Australia, and the chardonnays and sauvignon blancs of Sonoma Valley and New Zealand. He then turned to the Old World, and discovered the wonders of Champagne, Bordeaux, Burgundy, the Rhone Valley, German rieslings, Tuscany, Spain, and Portugal. And there is still much more of the world left...
EDUCATION Michael holds a PhD in Nuclear Geochemistry from the University of Chicago and is ABD in Isotope Geology from The Ohio State University. He holds an MS in Geochemistry from the University of California at Riverside, a BS in Geology from the New Mexico Institute of Technology, and an AA in Science from Riverside Community College, as well as a Certificate in Business Administration from the University of Michigan.
Michael was a Trustee of the Chicago Academy of Science and its Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum, and is an Advisory Board Member of VentureDNA.
Michael is also a Certified Mongol Warrior.
